The new-construction, five-story Woolworth Building fills a major vacancy in the heart of downtown Eugene. Located on Willamette Street south of Broadway, it was built on the site of the “Aster pit,” a 13-foot hole in the ground left after a Woolworth department store was torn down in the early 2000s. In December 2010, Bennett Management Company purchased the vacant site. A combination of public and private money funded the project.
The new building includes four stories of Class A offices over ground-floor retail space and a basement-level parking garage. The design includes a braced-frame seismic system and a brick-and-metal panel skin.
C2K's Kevin Sauser led the design and documentation phases of the project while at Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects. C2K Architecture executed the construction administration phase.
The building was completed in 2012.
