Currently under construction and expected to finish in Winter of 2019, this 13,300 sq ft renovation in Palo Alto, California, for Rapp Development, converts an existing Cheesecake Factory restaurant into a multi-tenant building with two retail spaces on the ground floor and office space on the second floor. The building was gutted and the floor slab along the main frontage was lowered 18” to allow direct access to the retail spaces. A service corridor with common toilet facilities, bike storage room, and recycling/refuse room was added in the rear of the building. The design brings to life the owner’s vision of a refined warehouse-style building, featuring large storefront windows and dramatic high ceilings. The material palette includes travertine stone, exposed architectural steel, wood soffits and custom lighting.
